Ryan in Recovery

Ryan was such a brave boy this morning. Here is his talking before his surgery, a little tired, but still cute.

Here he is wearing his spaceman hospital jammies.

He was very smiley or distracted by the TV playing Curious George when everyone came over to talk to us (doctor, anesthesiolgist, nurse, etc.) His lip got a little shaky for a minute when talking to one nurse but then he was fine. In fact when I walked him to the "double doors", he didn't even look back. He was too busy looking at everyone and everything and taking it all in.
It wasn't too long before the doctor came out to tell me that everything went smoothly. Everything came out easily. His adenoids were large like his tonsils as expected. He has a small split in his uvula so he "mostly" removed the adenoids so he wouldn't have any vocal issues.
The wait after that was tremendously long. I looked up everytime someone came out to the waiting room. Finally they called, "Ryan's mom". He was a sleepy, loopy boy, but I got to snuggle with him in a recliner in the recovery area. He woke up a little, had some popsicle, dozed, spit up the popsicle with a hard cough, dozed, started being really alert and then had another popsicle. We were in at 7:30 and out at 11:30am.
When we got home, he relaxed for a little while and then was up to play with trains.

Then he vomited and went back to lying down. He didn't want to take his liquid medicine and that was hard to hold him so he would take it. Thankfully he did fine the next dose.

He snoozed this afternoon and then has been playing really well with Max. He even got some gifts today in the mail and I didn't think he needed to wait until Saturday to open them. So we played play doh! Here he is resting and watching Super Why! You wouldn't believe how much his tiger, "Hobbs" and these little balloons from his great grandparents have helped him today. He has wanted them all day.
