What the Future Holds...

Remember those magic 8 balls? Wouldn't it be nice if we could have one of those to help us know what would happen in the future? I know Heavenly Father's plan to live by faith is better, but sometimes easy just sounds better! ; )

Tony is going back to school. He'll be doing a 2 year program to becoming certified as an Airframe and Power plant Mechanic (airplane mechanic). He'll be going to school all morning and then working the swing shift. His work is going to let him work swing and do contract work so he doesn't have to travel. Nice! He'll be gone from the wee early hours to the late hours everyday, but his hard work will pay off.

We contemplated doing the program in Oregon and moving but we have been blessed to know that we are meant to stay here. There's always pros and cons about moving. There are several reasons I would LOVE to live in the Portland area and several reasons why I would leave here kicking and screaming. It does take a weight off to know there isn't a move in our very immediate future. So the dust has settled, a progressive garden can be planted and Max's school can be planned out. When school starts in September, the days will be long for Tony and I and we will miss each other even though we'll be living in the same house...but it will all be for good.

On the Go for Better and for Worse...

So I've mentioned that Ryan is a stair lover. Did I also mention that he LOVES toilets? Ewwwww, especially when there's a slightly older boy just learning to aim properly. Ryan would love to splash splash splash in the toilet all day long. It's a good thing that there are doors oh, and soap.

And Many Moooorrrreeee....

A busy week led to a birthday cake/Mother's Day cake. I got to celebrate my birthday with Jenn who I haven't celebrated my birthday with since I turned 18. Birthdays should really be celebrated all week long anyway.

It Had Been Way Too Long...

My best friend in high school, Jennifer now has 3 children. We hadn't seen each other since I was pregnant with Max and we were just blessed with a visit from her cute family! The kids played really well together and it was so much fun. Jenn asked me if 15 years ago I would have imagined us married with 5 kids between us. The only future I saw at that time was college but I am sooo glad our lives have turned out the way they have and that we were able to cross paths. Hopefully it will be more often in the future. I could always use a visit from Mr. Flifferniffel.
Max, Jaden and Jonah. Jaden doesn't know it but his birth was sort of a catalyst for Tony and I getting together (a midnight drive to Oregon and someone being dared to kiss the other person while going 70 mph). That's when I learned that when someone tells you they're in labor, it doesn't mean you have to RUSH to get there. Haha! But Jadon was born May 13th and we started dating May 16th.

Mother's Day 2010

Tony and I went to the temple on Friday night and Saturday morning I discovered that our cute baby-sitter and max had made me a Mother's Day present. Max wanted me to open the "necklace", so I did.

It was actually a bracelet but who's going to argue with that face?
Then on Sunday, Tony gave me a sweet card and made a huge breakfast for us and our friends who were staying with us.

Some of the Birthday Fun

I love birthdays and I love that Ryan was kind enough to take a 3 hour nap in the morning so that I could enjoy a bubble bath. Anyone who has ever lived with me knows that I LOVE bubble baths. Ahhhh, it was so nice. Tony arranged baby-sitting and took me shopping and to dinner at The East and West Cafe. Tony is into All-American food so him taking me to have Asian food with no complaints was a HUGE surprise. :) I love this man!

Then he took me shopping!
The next night some awesome girl friends surprised me with dinner in Seattle at a French restaurant, 611 Supreme. That took me back to my days in France. I think my best memory is everyone sampling the cheese plate. They thought that one of the cheeses tasted like gym socks, so I tried it and had no problem with it. Hmmm, maybe I just like the taste of gym socks? haha So fun girls, Seattle, getting lost and French food all added up to une soiree magnifique!

Total Contentment

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day with a light blue sky and big puffy white clouds. I had to take a break from working on the yard and cleaning the car to play with my cute boys. Ryan is starting to discover the outdoors and hopefully it's going to be dry enough for this to continue. At one point we laid down and looked up through the branches of the Speckled Alder and picked out cloud animals. So I lay there in the soft grass with Max next to me and Ryan laying with his back on my chest, just looking up at the sky. It was just one of those many moments that I felt the love of my Savior and pure contentment!

Another moment came after Tony came home and started mowing the lawn.

Hapyy Cinco de Mayo, Mom!

I turned 33 yesterday which means that 33 years ago on Cinco de Mayo, my mom brought me into this world. I love you too dad, but it's almost mother's day so here is something I want to say to my beautiful mom, Pearl Edna Heath Leach!
From 0921

I now know what it's like to bring someone(s) into the world and all the sacrifices you made for us children. I now understand on a different level how awesome of a mother you were. You always listened to me and I always knew I could share anything with you. I talked your ear off most days and always wanted you to sit on my toes to keep them warm when I'm sure you would have been more comfortable on the couch with your own space. You let me be my own person and let me know that I was wonderful no matter what. You prayed for me to make righteous decisions and because of YOUR and DADs faith, I was able to be led to a school and to friends and experiences that helped me become who I needed to be. You listened to my stories of every single crush I ever had which was way too many. I saw you saying personal prayers in your bedroom and reading your scriptures. You've loved my husband from day one and we always feel your support! You're a loving grandmother to my sweet babies.
So, because you're the one who did something amazing on my "birth"day, I want to show you how much I appreciate you and love you! My birthday celebration isn't over as far as I understand anyway, so Happy Early Mother's Day and Happy Cinco de Mayo to my amazing mom! Je t'aime!

Inspiration

Awhile back I learned about an LDS woman, Stephanie Nielson, and her husband who had been in a near-fatal airplane crash. I blogged about it here and her blog/story is here. I'm not one to look at blogs unless they're someone I know, or nutrition, crafts or food storage, but I follow her blog because she inspires me. Here's a video that talks about her, the crash and her faith.

Back to Running

I was becoming a faithful runner for awhile and then sickness invaded my family and Tony took several out-of-town work trips which made it harder for me to go at night with friends. I kind of fell off the bandwagon so to speak. I have a walking/running buddy now and we're going to do the couch-5K running program. I am committing myself to do the Sound to Narrows and the Pacifc Crest Half-Marathon. I won't be running the whole time but I will be doing my best. So if anyone wants to join me and/or offer tips on running/walking that kept them motivated through it all, let me know! :)

Girl's Trip

It's been a busy week and so I'm playing catch-up. Feel free to scroll down to the other updates!
This weekend, a couple of friends and I went to visit our dear friend who recently moved to Spokane. It was also a chance to go to Time Out for Women which is so amazing and a must for all women. I just feel rejuvenated and I learned so much.

Max's First Sleepover and more Friend Fun

We got to have Max's buddy Hank spend the night while his mom was in Utah and dad was working. It was so fun! The boys all slept together and fell asleep just about an hour later than normal and woke up just 20 minutes earlier than normal. I was so worried that Hank (3) might wake up scared that I woke up several times to listen on the monitor but he was just fine! Phew! Then more friends came over to play and of course I took pics!

Ryan's Photo Shoot

Ryan is now 11 months old! He has 3 teeth and over the weekend went from army crawling and cruising on furniture to big boy crawling and cruising on furniture! He is such a sweet, easy-going baby. He got used to having mama around a lot in the midst of potty-training Max so he's just starting to get used to allowing others into his bubble! We love this boy to pieces. Check out our favorite photographer, Becky Jenson's blog here and her website here
We set up the date for the photo shoot and the night before Ryan came down with a bad cold and was miserable, but even with these less than ideal circumstances, Becky got some amazing photos of our tired sickie!
