Meeting Corny!

Ev and Jase's friend, Dillon, got a corn snake for Christmas.  We got the chance to go over and meet Corny and see him fed a thawed mouse.  They were very excited to hold him.

2nd First Day of First Grade

Evelyn was the first in our family to be able to go back to school.  We prepped the night before, got an extra mask and learned where the bus stop is.  Evelyn was super excited.  Her teach sent us a picture of her doing tricky words with playdough.  She did awesome and she helped other students.  She wasn't nervous at all.  She said she makes new friends everywhere she goes.  It's true and we're very glad she has confidence.

Life Didn't Give Us Lemons

But we still made lemonade...

Gnome Trail

The gnomes packed up and moved to a different part of Maple Valley but we had fun looking for them with the Johnsons and the Praters.

Family Game Night

And the next game we played together was Among Us, haha.

Hallway Done

We (Tony) hung up the pictures that are in a spot that's hard to get to.  Now that we balanced the ladder crazily on the stairs, and they're hung we are done.  :)  We have our maps, adventure signs, library book shelf and our Family book list.  The hallway is very "us".

Ev's Laker Life Lab Lunar Phases Project

Cute friends!

Exploring Mom's School

We explored a new dog park and the school grounds at Tahaleh Heights Elementary where I work. :)

Happy 16th Anniversary!!!

Tony was the sweetest anniversary planner this year!  We were going on a weekend getaway but Ev was potentially exposed to covid so we didn't want the kids to stay at our friend's house.  Instead, Tony brought me flowers, sushi and martinellis during my lunch break.  We ate in the truck and then we walked around and I showed him the outside of the school I work at.
In the evening we had a different type of "getaway".  First we had outdoor dining at an Italian restaurant, Al Lago.  Max was in charge and planned a sleepover for the kids downstairs so we had the upstairs to ourselves.  We could still have time together to celebrate and it was nice.  It was also sweet to come home to baby yoda cards from Jase and Evelyn.  Jase had even made a secret message.  It was so cute!

Three Kings Day

Max found the prize (3-D printed Baby Yoda) in his cheesecake!  He got to be king for the day!  Evelyn was in an even sillier than usual mood.

1/6/21 Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol

The insurrection of the U.S. Capitol became a big discussion point for our family.  We watched the news and talked about the election, the protests and what should be done.  I'm grateful for open minded children who get it.  America doesn't have to be divided.  If people can just admit when they've been wrong and stop pointing fingers and yelling hypocrisy.  Both political parties have been hypocritical at times but two wrongs never make a right.  We believe in humanity.  We believe that these protestors are terrorists and we need strong leadership that cares for all people in our country.

Spending Time Outdoors and Throwing Burritos at Each Other

On my way home from the library, I saw this beautiful deer on the side of the road.  It was so calm and peaceful.  I watched it for about 5 minutes.

For FHE, we spent time at the park and then played a new game, "Throw, Throw, Burrito".  It was so fun.  It's a cross between Spoons and Dodgeball.
