Roommate Reunion

Here's what happens when 3 former roommates get together...
From March 2010

This picture doesn't quite do justice to the kids' ability to get dirt all over the living and dining rooms. This is after having a conversation about how single men can be oblivious. Ummm...I think we were feeling a bit sheepish after that. The only way we figured out anything was going on was when Max came in and said, "we're making a BIG mess!"
Okay, so more fun stuff...

The "Jesus Made" Roadtrip

Tony was able to fly out to see his brother get married in South Carolina. He had a great time. As much as we would have loved to have been there, we are just glad Tony was able to go. Tony sent me pics on the cell phone the whole time so it was fun seeing everything even though we weren't there. During a little downtime between the wedding and reception, Tony and his parents toured Charleston. Tony sent me a pic of the horse drawn carriage ride they took in historic Charleston. Anybody who knows me knows that I love exploring, touring, adventure, etc. I LOVE road trips and I LOVE going to new places. So, I'll admit, when I saw pics of Tony's adventure (which will be posted about when we get more pics), I had to have one of my own. Since I have no kids in school, we just went. We drove to Snoqualmie Falls (a little over an hour away) and then took beautiful country roads to the beautiful little town of Sammamish where there I'd found a killer deal on Craigslist. We had fun. Two great memories from this little trip were that Max started thinking the word "taco" was hilarious to say in different voices and he was making Ryan laugh. Random! And also, as we were driving along country roads, seeing cows, beautiful trees, wildflowers, etc., Max started pointing out things that Jesus made. "Mom, mom, Jesus made the trees". "Jesus made the flowers", etc. I loved it!

Pinewood Derby Practice

We got to have the Mathis family over for dinner while Tony helped Jarom work on his pinewood derby car. Then the boys played outside and were absolutely hilarious. Thanks again guys, for a fantastic evening! Check out how Jarom did here

So In Love!

Congratulations Mike and Nicole! Well, almost...but Mike...I hate to break it to you. You have some last minute competition. This morning Max was telling me how daddy, Grandma and Grandpa flew on a big airplane to see you get married in the temple. I told him you were marrying Nicole. Then Max told me that he was going to the temple to get married so I asked who he was going to marry. That's right, you guessed it...Nicole. I broke it gently to him that YOU were marrying Nicole, so, he decided to marry his friend Kelsee instead. I don't think I'll tell Nicole that she has more options since your wedding is only hours away (and I'm pretty sure you guys aren't going to be online before then)! ; )

Congratulations again you two! We are there in spirit!

Rockets

Max loves rockets. Tonight after reading a few stories, I decided to make one up. The gist of it is that a little boy named Max with a baby brother decided he wanted to make a rocket so he made one out of a box. Then he went into the box, counted down and blasted off into the sky. He passed a bird, an airplane, stars and then he got to the moon before he realized he should be home for dinner. He went around the moon, past the stars, past a helicopter, past a monkey in the tree and landed back in his room. Max loved this story and as soon as it was over he wanted to go back in the rocket. I asked him where he was going to fly this time. His answer? "MONTANA" After a trip to Montana, he went to Washington D.C as well. I think we may be making something like this soon.

Making an Impression

Today as we walked into the story time room at the library, a sweet older couple who must have been there to watch great grandchildren looked at Max and asked, "Is he looking for a tissue?" All I could reply was, "I wish" and thankfully took the tissue and gave it to my boy just as he pulled his finger out of his mouth. Yup, he's going to be known at story time as the kid who eats his boogers. Good thing 2 and 3 year-olds seem pretty forgiving! :) Oh, and yeah, any advice out there for stopping this particular behavior would so be appreciated!

Daddy, Daddy, Daddy

From January 2010

It's a good thing I'm not the jealous type! ; ) Max has been missing his daddy a lot this week. Friday morning he woke up and started bawling because daddy was at work. On Friday, he was anxiously looking forward to having daddy come home but daddy was only home for a few minutes because he had a scout overnighter. Max's prayer at dinner thanked Heavenly Father that "daddy could come over". His prayer that night had, "please let daddy come back". The next morning at breakfast he prayed,"please let daddy come over". It was cute and heart breaking at the same time. Whenever anything is broken at the house Max says, "Maybe daddy fix it!" I wish you could hear the excitement in his voice when he says it too. He knows his daddy can do anything! Max likes to play outside while his daddy works in the shop. Sometimes he even helps him. Max thinks his daddy is the greatest!

9 (Well 9 1/2) Month Check Up

Wow, 4 updates in one night. That might be a new record for me. We have been busy and have purchased a new computer recently, but I'm back! Here's the latest on the wee-est one!
From March 2010

Here is how our sweet little Ryan is growing: weight 20lbs. 12oz (50th %), Height 28in. (30th %) and head 48cm. (90th %). Dr. says the height stats are probably off because an M.A. student did the measuring. All in all he's doing really well. He has a bit of eczema on his face that we haven't been able to kick yet, but he's scooting on furniture and will take steps with me. He's got the biggest smile and still just two bottom teeth even though there are 3 others that I can see just about to pop in. He loves to be tickled and he loves watching his big brother. Tonight, the boys were having a ball in the bathtub together. I just checked on the them sleeping and said a little prayer because I feel so blessed to have them in my life!

This is how we roll!

So many updates!
This last one is of St. Patrick's Day!

Count Me Lucky!

Most people who know Jennica know of Jennica's neighbor/friend Sarah. I feel lucky to have gotten to know her over the past couple of years or so. Many wonderful things can be said about Sarah but my absolute favorite thing is her laugh! Sarah and her cute brood have moved 5 hours away so while game nights won't be as frequent, we'll still be great friends. How do you tell someone that you've learned so much from them that you are seriously a changed person because of knowing them? Well before Sarah moved officially, we had to have a little get together with the kids. I have never wanted to have a Wii as much as after watching the kids dance.

What I Heard This Morning

"Mommy, the sky is waking up!"

I'm glad I am met with such happy kids in the morning because it makes it worth it even when I'm super tired. I don't know how Tony does it. He wakes up at 4:30 and I only wake up at 6. I always wake up with the hope of getting my shower done and bed made before I hear any peeps on the baby monitor. Lately though I have a little Max with his blanket trailing behind him come in and talk to me while I'm in the shower. Oh well, like I said, at least they're happy even when it's early.

Back in the Saddle

This was Tony's second flight since his accident and his first flight back at the Mulino airport where he flew out of before the crash. It was beautiful. Grandpa Bob came along to watch after giving Max his Army hat to wear. Tony went up with a friend who owned the plane and had a great flight and an awesome landing! It was exciting to watch!

"My Picked a Flower"

From March 2010

Yes, I recreated the moment so I could capture it on film. It was so cute. Max ran in from playing outside and brought me a flower. Then he brought me another one along with a gooey kiss (see his nose?). Even with the gooey kiss, this was a sweet moment. Max is a precious boy and my boys are definitely gifts from God.

My 9 month old

Ryan is such a good and happy baby. And he's healthy! We're going to have to do his 9 month appt. a bit late because of a mix up with the insurance, but I'm certain he's doing just fine!
Here he is, attempting to be a bi-ped:
