Jamaica--Part 4--Swimming with Dolphins

Words can't even describe what a cool and amazing experience it was to swim with dolphins.  We got to pet the dolphins, kiss them, dance with them holding their pectoral fins and hold it like a baby.  Our dolphin's name was Apollo.

When it was time to actually swim with them, they first had us swim out a ways.  Then we treaded water with our arms out in front of us.  The dolphin swam up in front of us, coming out of the water in front of us.  We held onto it's pectoral fins and then it swam on it's back to the dock.  Oh my goodness!  It was so fun.

After that we were given a boogie board and we swam out again.  We waited for the dolphin to touch the back of our right foot and then we were to "lock" our leg as it pushed us across the water.  II wish you could see the dolphin behind us too but you can definitely tell by the smiles on our faces that it was so much fun.

We also got to hear the dolphin sing.  Any noise they make comes from their blow hole.  We felt it's heart beat.  A dolphin has five senses but they can't smell so the fifth sense is echolocation.  They can't sleep because of predators so instead they "turn off" half of their brain when they're fatigued.  I wish we could do that.

Tony and I felt so lucky to have such a cool experience.  Definitely worth it!
