The Half

We were able to enjoy a beautiful weekend in Sunriver and LaPine, OR. We camped at Uncle Ken and Aunt Dorothy's campsite in LaPine and enjoyed the calm. We also visited the very fun resort-type town of Sunriver where we did a half-marathon on Saturday morning.
This was my first year but there's a tradition with some families in my church to do the half-marathon and have a carb-loading dinner the night before. Tiffany and her mom Karen were gracious enough to host this year. I remembered to pull out the camera at one point and got this cute shot of my boys playing with her youngest

Saturday morning was Max's birthday but I didn't say happy birthday to him before we left rather early. I wanted to see this instead of a hyper, excited Max at 6:30am

Then we did the race. Kate and Geniel were superstars and did great. I'm glad I did it, but definitely need more training if I'm going to pass the tortoise next year! :) It really is about just keeping one foot in front of the other. Next time, I will NOT sleep on an air mattress the night before! :)

Max Riding His Bike

Max's new favorite hobby

Up in the Sky...it's a Bird...it's a Plane!

A week ago we were outside and a P-51 flew over. Can I just say that Tony was EXCITED! He took pictures and then found out that the Tacoma Narrows airport was having 3 WWII vintage airplanes. So we packed up the little ones for a spur of the moment trip and Max and daddy walked around admiring the old planes.

A Weekend Adventure with Cousins

Tony's cousin Seth and his family came to visit us a couple of weekends ago. It was great to have them over and Max LOVED playing with his cousin Ely. In fact, he'd get upset when Ely decided to move on to something else. Ahhhh, being two. The weather didn't work in our favor, but we still had a great time going to the Pacific Science Center and going for a walk near the sound. And they introduced me to Rifftrax. Pretty hilarious. Here are some pictures of our visit! We hope we can see you again soon, guys!

A Different Point of View

We checked out some picture books about pioneers so Max could learn about them. He's been fascinated with covered wagons, oxen and horses since we went to Montana. So we have read and talked about how the pioneers left their homes and traveled for a long time to find a place to build a new home.

"Just like the 3 little piggies" Max said.

Okay.

Video Killed the Radio Star

Okay, that title has almost nothing to do with this post.
I've been uploading a bunch of videos to Youtube because it wasn't working through blogger. So grandparents, if you'd like to see many clips of the wee ones, just click on the link youtube.com/firstscout

Sound to Narrows 2010

It's a fun tradition to do the Sound to Narrows. This year I ran/walked the 5K with my friend, Debbie Van Woerkom. Max did the diaper dash and had so much fun practicing and then actually running it. We knew Ryan wouldn't crawl on the wet grass so he's going to start the tradition next year.

And posers after. Who's that Roman soldier you ask? Roman Meal is one of the big sponsors so that handsome guy is there every year.

Ryan was very thirsty after all that riding around he did on dad's back. He has a hard job!

The diaper dash was way crowded. They need to widen the starting and finishing lines because we had people in front of us on both ends. Max was enthusiastic. It's hard to see him in the video because people stepped in front of us and he didn't start until after a few seconds (had to get around people), but here he is during his heat.

When Mom Was Sick This Week and Needed a Break...

Dad lovingly protected his still crawling baby from the floor of the garage and baby-sat in a way that only he can. When asked about it, Tony's response was, "I gave him toys!"

Old McDebbie Had a Farm...

so we had to do a spur of the moment fishing trip. Old McDebbie's is a great place for kids. Max could have stayed there all day. So we played, saw animals, fished and the best moment for Max? Going potty in a big green box. Seriously, what is wrong with this kid?
