A Little Pre-Bedtime Baseball

After bathing, Max wanted to play baseball. He HAD to wear his baseball cap. He's got a pretty good eye. I guess we should get him a tee ball stand and play some more ball outside! Gotta love the passion (and my version of home plate). The sunlight was streaming through the window and made a cool effect on his pants. What a cutie! Now all we need is some Big League Chew!

Renton, Renton, Here we Come!

Last Friday night, after finishing my tour of Kirtland, I turned my phone back on and there was a message. The message said that we were being offered the position as property managers in Renton, WA. So we will be moving next month. There's always hundreds of mixed feelings when it comes to moving, excitement and some anxiety being the primary ones. I just want to take all of my friends with me. Instead of receiving a salary, we will be receiving free rent and all utilities paid for. We will also receive a one-week vacation in a time-share (I don't know where yet). Once, I've learned the job, it should be about an average of 5 hours of work a week. The families maintain their own home and property. We collect rent and attend a monthly HOA type meeting as well as help enforce community rules. I've written many a polite reminder and then strongly worded letter in my social work days. I hope the position is as trouble free as it seems. Time will tell! We are so grateful for this opportunity and thank Heavenly Father for this blessing!

The Newest Mash-UP

Overheard in my family room:

"Loyal, strong and true,
Wear the White and Blue.
As we sing, get set to spring.
Come on Cougars....

M-O-U-S-E. Mickey Mouse,
Mickey Mouse, hold your banners, high high high...

Rah, Rah, Rah, Rah, Rah.....Go COUGARS!"

Here are the songs he's heard me sing to come up with this particularly AWESOME mash-up"

The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for my generation:

The one from my mom's generation:

And lastly, the BYU fight song. Tony and I were meant to be because we both had parents who woke us up singing it!

Like Father, Like Son

So Ryan may not be saying "airplane" yet, but he knows what they are. In this family, how could you not? He hears them in the air and points up. He'll look up and point out the ones in his room. What a cutie!

A Quick Day Trip to Kirtland, Ohio!

Kirtland, Ohio is the site of a lot of early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
I had an amazing day there, starting at the Kirtland Temple.

Girl's Weekend in Ohio!

My awesome mother-in-law flew to Tacoma so I could fly to Ohio to see family and enjoy a Girl's Weekend Out with some friends. I had fun and feel so refreshed (tired, but refreshed)!

Enjoying the Sunshine

On Saturday, we basked in the sun. First we went to Sunnyside beach which is one of my favorite spots in Tacoma.
From July 2010

Max was being such a good big brother and Ryan didn't mind the ride until we got to the end and I was taking a picture.

Gorgeous! Max didn't like putting his toes in the water with me because there was so much seaweed floating up. Silly guy.

Ryan liked eating the sand of course and Max liked digging for China.

Then we went to a friend's house on Raft Island and Tony and Max tried out the sail kit he made for the kayak. Max was singing "Sailing, Sailing" and loving every second of it. He even turned around in the kayak to see what was behind him (as dad figured out later by looking at pictures). Oops!

How Felix the Cat has Saved Our Family

From July 2010

No melodramatics here! With all of the beautiful weather we've been having, Ryan has been under the weather. He had a virus which caused a fever and lethargy and then a few days later he broke out in spots. Tony was gone all week so we were home with a sickie and let's just say the days were long. While Ryan napped, we rode bikes and played in the sandbox, etc., but just to add something different to our day, I introduced Max to Felix the Cat. Without going into a long tangent, let's just say that looking up "classic cartoons" is not always a good idea. Some of those "classical cartoons" don't seem as cute and innocent as they should. But Felix the Cat is harmless and fun. Tony has always liked Felix and now so does Max. Here's the picture that Tony painted on the tire cover of his first car, The Scout. I can just imagine the 16 year old Tony driving around with this on the back. haha Now it hangs in the garage.

Is Max an Aspiring Vetrinarian like Uncle Alan?

We went to the zoo with some friends and saw videos of the baby tigers that were born and the leopards that are new on exhibit. Only, instead of taking pictures of the bigger exhibits like I normally do, I waited until the end when we were at the kid zone feeding goats and dressing up like veterinarians to examine a fake lizard. Max always has so much fun at the zoo and Ryan just has a fascination with animals. He definitely loved the goats.
