While we were camping Avi did not get comfortable with our neighbor watching her. She was okay with J but she hadn't been around D enough. So while they were taking her on walk, her leash dropped for a second and she took off like the speed of light People were following her. Someone offered J and D to get in their car so they could follow her. They were going 40 mph and couldn't catch her. They found her exhausted on our neighbor's dock (4 houses down). She had run around the lake, come to our house, tried to get in (bloody paw on door), gone around back and plopped down when her adrenaline ran out One of our neighbors used to be a vet tech and cleaned her bloody, torn paws Our other neighbor is a nurse and clipped the tissue from her paws that was hanging off.
Avi did better when she stayed at our neighbor's house instead of D staying here. When we got home, Tony went to pick her up next door and carried her home, 80 pounds, and all. Poor, big Avi was so pathetic looking with her bandages which were covered with little girl socks.
