Good Roots

One of the coolest things in my community is the Bonney Lake food Bank.  With my JustServe   calling, I got to have a tour of the food bank which is unlike any other food bank I've seen.  It actually hasn't been called a food bank in years.  It is the Market.  It's a beautiful market that looks like a posh grocery store.  People can come and shop with a normal shopping experience.  They have points on a card to use.  There's also a microgreens nursery and a locker outside.  The locker is refrigerated so people can come pick up food any time of day that works with their schedule.  One of these lockers is now outside the Bonney Lake library.  The woman in charge of the Market is a visionary and is inspiring.  She wants to make sure that food insecurity is destigmatized and also does not prohibit anyone in the community from getting their basic needs met.  She spoke about the abundance mindset versus the scarcity mindset.  It's pretty amazing to have this expanding movement in our community.
