Saturday Adventure Through a Tunnel and Over a Mountain
This Saturday adventure was really fun. First we drove to the Iron Horse tunnel at Hyak and rode through the tunnel and back. This was my first time having Evelyn on the tagalong bike and Avi's first time running alongside the bike. Next time we'll go further but this was a fun, 5 mile intro ride for Avi.
Then we rode home by going over the Cascade Mountains on forest roads. It was really fun. We saw some kind of off-roading club driving through together. We saw an old fire rig that was labeled, "Last Responder", an old taxi, a Miata, lots of subarus and other random, garbage-looking cars passing by together. A lot of them had Gamblers 500 on them so we're guessing it's a club. Okay, had to look it up: https://www.gambler500.com/ They take junky cars (not supposed to spend more than $500 and go off-roading, clean up trails and have fun.
Baking a Blackberry Pie
Jason has been obsessed with baking a blackberry pie. The kids have paddled to the island and picked so many yummy blackberries and so we had to make a pie. It was so good.
Vashon Island Family Trip
We took the ferry to Vashon Island. First we did a nature scavenger hunt in Frog's Holler. Then we had lunch and then marked a few Roadside America attractions off our list. After that we enjoyed the beach by Point Robinson lighthouse. We passed by one more Roadside America on our way home.
We love riding the ferry .
Frog Holler--Evelyn is holding our scavenger hunt guide.
This is "Cool Gary", one of our roadside attractions.
One more roadside attraction for the day.
