Beach Weekend--Part 3

We took a trip to Lincoln City but I didn't get any pictures there.
Here are some pics from one of our many beach explorations.
"I have the power"
We found this trench already dugout.  Of course, Max had to pretend they were fighting in WWII.

Back at the house

The road to the beach
At the other end of the road is this golf course.

Here's a science experiment we brought to do.  Tornado in a bottle.

A little bit of quiet time.  I thought this was such a cute pic of daddy and son, even blurry.

Back to the beach.  Low tide!

We get to play at Proposal Rock!

Cutest beach baby!

Daddy always makes exploring fun.

Ryan getting brave.

There's always a geo-cache to be found.
Pacific City.

And a fun deer sighting on our way back.  There were so many animals to see on the drive down--through the Oregon country-side and then we passed an Estuary.  So fun.

Beach Weekend--Part 2

We had so much fun this weekend.  I have so many pictures and I can't choose so here they all are.  In fact, I'll just make one more post after this.

This is the beach access that's just down the street from the beach house.  It's beautiful.  We opted for the more protected beach which was still close.
We liked riding bikes there.

I am aware this is an awful pic.  I was figuring the reverse picture-taking thing on my phone, but...who cares about that when you run into a mission friend on the beach?  Seriously!  I have not seen Hannah since our BYU days (senior year after the mission).  She's from Salem but lives in New York and was visiting family.  Here we were visiting Neskowin for the first time and we saw each other.  This beach is her favorite beach and so she brought her cute family here.  She has kids nearly the same ages as all three of mine.  What a fun reunion!
The boys getting ready for some lunch.

Enjoying conference together.  Lots of different toys to keep the boys occupied when their attention was waning.  It was seriously paradise to combine one of my favorite weekends of spiritual feasting with enjoying the majesty of God's ocean.

If only...we'd buy this one in a heartbeat.  We feel pretty lucky though to have generous cousins who are willing to share.

Beach Weekend--Part 1

First stop was the Air and Space Museum in McMinnville.  We saw the one and only Spruce Goose.
Inside

And outside

It is definitely huge.

Next photo op was a beautiful Gee Bee.

And of course we have to take a picture by the B-17.

They had a fun play area.

This museum is definitely day trip-worthy.  We could have seen so much more.  It's a bit pricey, but thanks to the EAA, we got in for free.

Springtime!

Today I washed windows while Tony mowed and weed-eated.  The sunshine, blossoms, flowers, wind chimes and the smell of freshly mowed grass were wonderful.  We just soaked it in.

Ryan loves to ride his bike or trike to the bus stop to get Max and today he wanted to wear this baseball helmet.  What can I say but of course.  Here he is riding through the blossom blizzard.
And some of those gorgeous blossoms up close

After we got Max, we played for a little longer with his good friend--there was Star Wars play involved of course.
After Jase's nap, we're going to the park.  Perfect day.

Coach-Pitch Baseball

Max had his first game last night.  He played left field which got a bit boring to him after awhile, but he liked it overall.  There were short cones to mark where each player was to stand and you could often see the outfielders adding dirt to their cones and taking it off to see if the dirt held the cone shape.  It's hard to always pay attention. ; )  He was very excited to hit the ball on his very first pitch.  I took a video which isn't the best but you can see the start of his happy dance when he gets to first base.  He actually hit one of the players with the ball but it didn't hurt them.

There were a few tears when the game had been going on over an hour and he missed the ball and didn't get to it.  It was almost bedtime by then.  Overall he loved it.  He's hoping for a chance to be catcher. :)

Bath and Bedtime

We introduced Jase to bubbles the other night.  He would look at them in awe as they floated by.

He decided that his favorite thing to do was create huge waves.  Splash!  Splash!

I also got to introduce my boys to Uncle Wiggly.  This book is dear to me.  It belonged to my dad as a boy and it is a beautiful old book.  I opened it up and saw that my Grandma, Vivian Lathan gave it to my dad for Easter when he was six.  The boys love it and ask for it every night now.

Easter Evening 2013

We enjoyed a beautiful Easter day at church, with beautiful music.  We had a lovely dinner with some friends and had a few more egg hunts for the kids.  It was a great evening.
