South Beach Camping with the Bills

We made our annual trip to South Beach and the Bills were able to come along!  It was fun playing on the beach!

Jase, Ev, Tony and I visited Beach 4 to go tide pooling.

On our way back to camp we stopped at Beach 1 but didn't hike down.  Instead, we walked around the forest along the bluff.  The trees all had growths on them.  We called the area Knob-oo.  When we had cell service, we read that these growths are the tree fighting a fungal infestation or parasite.  The tree grows around the infection.  It definitely makes for interesting knobs.  These burls are common along the coastline because so much moisture in the air creates more bacteria.  We had a fun little mini adventure in Knob-oo.

We had fun visiting the Tree of Life which is definitely lower than it used to be.  We know we won't have this tree forever so we'll enjoy it for as long as we can.

On the way home, we stopped at the Quinault Rain Forest for a short hike.
