The Adventures of the Sickies

Here is how the weirdness began...
I was sitting in church when one of the nursery leaders brought Max to me. I assumed I had to change his diapers so I followed them out of class with the diaper bag. In the hallway, the nursery leader told me that Max was missing me and asking about me. What? My child? Missing me when he's with friends at church? So, I held him and went back to nursery with him. It was a strange enough occurrence that I had to tell Tony about it. After church Max napped and woke up really warm. We found out Max had an ear infection. Then, AFTER I took Max to the doctor, Ryan came down with the same little thing he seems to get every few months or so. He had the gunky nose and the gut-wrenching cough. Now it is a week and a half later and they are both doing fine! Phew!
We took a short walk last week just to get some fresh air. Max was doing so much better that he got to puddle jump and play in the water ditch. I grew up in St. Helens, OR and I remember doing the same thing. It's fun to watch sticks and leaves float down.
Drinking Amoxicillin (I told him it tastes like strawberry ice-cream and apparently it does to him. He wanted more everytime).

Fun With Dad

How cute are these pictures that we took of this cute baby because they reminded us of some pictures of another cute baby!
Poor little Ryan is under the weather but he sure is cute!

My Heart is a Squishy Puddle of Goo

Max likes to say the prayers and he says the same blessing on the food. I don't think Heavenly Father minds vain repetitions from a 2 1/2 year old. :) Max got home from a swimming lesson at the Y with daddy and sat down to eat dinner. This was the gist of his prayer:
Dear Heavenee Father,
Thank you food
Ask thee bless it...

Thank you for swimming

Name of Jesus Christ, Amen

That was the first time he's added something to the prayer we've basically taught him, and it came from his heart. Yes, I know I'm an overly excited mama, but c'est la vie! It totally touched our hearts!

They Say Love is Just Infatuation, I Say Love is Dancin' Across the Nation

If you know the song that has those lyrics without googling it, I will think you beyond awesome!

Tony and I have only been dancing a handful of times since we've been married. It's funny that the church has lots of dances when you're single so you can meet people, only they're not always fun and you usually spend some of your brain's energy wondering if the one you like is going to ask you to dance. Then, you get married and the opportunities to dance via church activities becomes nearly nonexistent. Sad! So, I was EXCITED to go dancing with my hubby on Friday night. We had fun even though some of the songs were of course geared towards the older generations. Mark and Tallie Menzie showed us their awesome moves and we just had fun. Oh, and I felt about 15 again when I got VERY EXCITED that "Friday I'm in Love" by the Cure came on (that's right I requested it--oh yeah).

A Letter to Me

Dear Autonomic Nervous System,

While I am incredibly grateful that you work so well, I'm ready to stop some of the reactions that are still happening. For instance, it would be super if I wouldn't have an increase in Adrenaline and Cortisol every time I drive through an intersection, causing me to slow down through said intersection to make sure I don't hit any people. I'd also appreciate it if my anxiety to drive at night would diminish. It will also be great to stop having flashbacks of the accident when I drive. I am grateful that I haven't had a bad dream in awhile. I know this will be a slow process to get over something so traumatizing. I know I can tell myself that it wasn't my fault and it happened because of someone else's choices, but it doesn't erase the fact that it happened. I will be truly grateful when my mind, body and spirit can all be completely at peace. I'm grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who gives peace when I seek it and helps me through the healing process. I'm also grateful to know that there is a plan of happiness and that even though I don't understand why this accident happened a little over a year after another horrible accident in our family, I know that Heavenly Father loves me and knows that I can grow and become stronger through this. I also know that He gives me more time than I give myself because I sometimes don't want to accept that it will take awhile to get over this. So I guess ANS, I should cut you some slack, but work with me here, okay?

Sincerely,
Debbie

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Friends are Fun!

Max has a friend that comes to play on a regular basis and they are a hoot together. They jump all the time and even play hide and go seek (not much real hiding going on though). I love this jumping area they set up; off the steps onto the cushions.

Museum of Flight

February 20th is Tony's birthday and it's always nice to kind of celebrate the whole month long, right? We started out by visiting the Museum of Flight. Each time we go to a flight museum, it gets more fun as Max gets a little older and a little more aware of everything. We had an absolute blast and even ran into one of Tony's coworkers.
