And Now a Word From Our Sponsor...

Ryan is 4 1/2 months old!

Tacoma Children's Museum

We went to the museum with my former job-share partner and her darling daughter who is just a bit younger than Max. We had a lot of fun. They got to pick "apples" off of a "tree", shop at a "Farmer's Market", paint, climb, etc.

Ryan is 4 months old!

So this cute boy went to the doctor and got 4 shots! Poor baby! The doctor was happy with his growth and development. He is such a fun baby. He weighs 16 lbs. 5 oz. (70th percentile. He is 25.25 inches long (55 percentile) and his noggin is 45.8 cm (99 percentile).

Grandparents Visit = Happy Boys

Tony being cleared to work meant that the flight benefits were reinstated. Grandpa J and Grandma Kate came to visit the boys...and us (as they say ; ) We watched Conference together, and had two walks along the water front. The boys love having time with grandparents. Max is pretty much a grandma's boy and finds any and every opportunity to snuggle with grandma. He also loved building blocks with Grandpa and being read to. We had a cute book from the library where you "sang" the words to the tune of "Here we go round the Mulberry Bush". So we have some cute footage of Grandpa reading to Max.

Good News for Tony's Recovery

Tony was cleared to start back at work on Monday, 9/24/09. His primary care doctor wrote a letter illustrating his progress. He said that his ankle and facial trauma are healing nicely. I love the last line of the letter, "At this point full recovery is anticipated and no long tern medications are needed other than prn NSAID". So the full week of work wiped Tony out of course but he's doing good.

It's funny because he worked hard when he was home too but it definitely didn't include the walking and the intensity of course. And in a way, I've been spoiled because I could leave Max to "work with dad in the garage" while I took Ryan to go grocery shopping or whatever. Now I'm getting used to the full on mom-of-two status again.

So Tony continues physical therapy twice a week but that will be wrapping up sometime soon. He has the onset of arthritis in his ankle but he just takes glucosamine to combat that as much as possible. The orthopedic surgeon says there's nothing to do for it. He may need it fused at some point if he loses mobility in it, but only time will tell.

Next on the horizon: His oral surgery is scheduled for 12/29/09 and they will bring his upper jaw out to correct his bite. They will also give him implants to replace his two missing teeth. They may also pull the broken teeth on either side and do two more implants or just fix them. The oral surgeon, orthodontist and dentist will make a group decision about that at the end of the month. He'll have braces about another 6 months or so and then finished! We are praying that the Federal Aviation Administration doesn't feel that with his injuries he needs to fail his aviation physical and lose his license.
